Helping Your Child find a Book

Each week when your child visits the library, he/she participates in a lesson involving information literacy skills.  I plan the lessons so that they run 20 to 22 minutes.  This leaves the students with approximately 8-10 minutes to look for their books to take home.  I do everything in my power during that time to help all students find the books they wish to take home.  Unfortunately the book that the students wish to take home is sometimes not the book the parents want them to take!

To help them find things that you want them to read, I suggest that you and your child sit down together and search the library's catalogue (see directions below).  This way your child can find things that he/she is interested in, and you can make sure they are books that you want him/her to read.

You will need a user name and password to access the catalogue.  To obtain this user name and password, please email me (Cindy O'Reilly) at coreilly@chclc.org

To help your child find a book:

If our library does not have a book that you are looking for, you can click on one of the other elementary schools to search their catalogues.  If another library has the book, let me know and I can contact that librarian to ask them to inter-library loan us the book.
