Part II

Ready for some collaboration? For Part II of my plan, you will be working with 3 other students.
First your group will exchange the sheets that you completed in Part I. This will give you an opportunity to see what other people thought was important.
Next you will make a list of the things that you and your group members selected from the websites you explored. (If something was mentioned by more than one person, you only need to write it down once.)
That list is pretty long, huh? Remember that we don't want to overwhelm the students at the other school by giving them too much information. If they feel overwhelmed, they will stop listening and they won't learn what you are trying to teach them.
So how do we keep the other kids from being overwhelmed?
Let's start by looking at the first item on the list.
Each person in the group should make an argument as to whether or not they think the item is really important.
After hearing each other's arguments, decide if you want to change your mind or go with your first thought of whether to keep it or not.
If the majority of you say to keep it, write it down on a clean piece of chart paper.
If the majority of you say that it is not that important and that including it will only confuse or overwhelm the other kids, then cross it out and do not write it on the piece of chart paper.
Repeat the same process for each item on the list.
I know that it seems like a lot of work, and yes, it will take a long time. But you have to remember that you are responsible for teaching this to another kid, so you need to make sure that you are doing it the best way possible. Taking the time to do this will ensure that the kids won't get confused or overwhelmed! You are showing that you have responsibility, caring, and integrity!
When your group has put together their list, please show it to me. Before you present this information to the someone else, you want to first make sure that it is evaluated to make sure it is accurate (sound familiar?). This is where I come in. I want to see your lists so that I can evaluate them.
After I have approved the work that you completed so far, we will display the chart paper in the library for you and others to refer to.
You are now ready for Part III.
