COURSE HIGHLIGHTS AND GUIDELINES

 

 

«Bienvenus,  bienvenidos, welcome to our exciting class of Spanish and French !»

 

 

Course Title: Spanish / French Novice Level -  Grades 6, 7 and 8

 

 

Objective and Philosophy:

 

       My goal is to provide the students with immediately useful and useable communicative skills such as reading , writing, listening and speaking and to develop his or her knowledge of French / Spanish culture. You will learn to perfect the sound system and you will  acquire the basic grammatical structures of the language in contextualized situations. Repetition,  memorization and constant practice will be part of the process of learning your second language. I believe that each and every one of you can succeed .With effort, motivation and determination,  we will work together toward that objective. «A vos marques»,

In order to be achieved successfully the above goal requires that you :

 

·                    1. Come to class prepared ( Ex. Textbook Allez-Viens / Ven Conmigo, pen, binder ) and on time

·                    2. Complete all daily homework

·                    3. Put 100 % effort to speak Spanish / French in the classroom and practice outside of class

·                    4. Make mistakes in Spanish / French and learn from them

·                    5. Ask questions about what we learned, what we are learning, and what we will be learning

·                    6. Ask Mrs. Bittout when in need of assistance  in French or Spanish

·                    7. Follow all school-established policies

 

Overarching Understanding(s) Related to the Course:

 

·                    How can the learning and Mastering of Spanish / French open,  widen,  and clarify life styles and cultural differences and similarities giving me a new concept of globalism ?

  

 

 

Standards

 

All lessons are based on the Cherry Hill World Language Standards .Our goal is to meet every standard and benchmark. Standards are posted in the classroom:  a copy will be attached to your binder;  and, they are also linked to the teacher's website.

 

Assessment and Reassessment:

 

Project / Oral presentation

 

·                    The student will play an active role in the creation of collective projects

·                    The student will be responsible to turn in mini-projects and major-projects on time

·                    A  project that is turned in late will result in points taken off

 

Homework

 

·                     You will have homework every night. While there may not always be a written assignment , at minimum you must spend 15 minutes each evening for review and practice.

 

·                    Homework will be checked or collected .

 

·                    You will be responsible for all work missed during absences. (get a reliable classmate's phone number). Also extra copies of all assignments given will be at your disposition  on the bookshelf  «Français» or «Español». See also our classroom Website or see me

 

Oral participation

 

·                    Classroom assignments and oral participation will count as a significant part of the final grade

 

·                    «En francais s'il vous plait», «¡en español por favor !». It means that you will put 100 % effort to speak the target language !
