I. Philosophy: I believe that health and wellness education is an extremely important and interesting part of life. Everyone should be aware of how his/her body works and the proper ways to keep it healthy. Personal health affects all aspects of daily life and should be a life long pursuit. There is no better time than the present for people to start taking care of themselves and I feel that it is the duty of health teachers to help in this process.

II. Required Materials: pen or pencil, and folder with pockets and lined paper for every class

III. Expectations: I expect every student in my class to…

1. Have fun and learn something about his/herself!

2. Be respectful of classmates and the teacher.

3. Be honest and responsible for his/her actions.

4. Listen and follow directions.

5. Complete all assignments in a timely manner.

6. Always give his/her best effort.

7. Participate to his/her full ability.

8. Be responsible for getting any missed assignments and notes.

IV. Evaluation: It will be done through a variety of techniques such as…

1. Class participation in discussions, individual, and group work

2. Written evaluations/tests done throughout the course

3. Homework given throughout the course

4. Rubrics that the students will receive before the learning process begins so they are aware of what is expected of them on the projects.

V. Reassessment Policy: Students will be eligible for reassessment based upon the following criteria…

1. They have completed and turned in the original assignment.

2. Parent or guardian signs the original assignment before the reassessment occurs.

VI. Teacher Availability: I will be available to help students after school, as long as arrangements are made. I can be reached at the school at 424-4505 or through email at edouglas@chclc.org
