Welcome to Mr. Wade’s Physical Education class. I am looking forward to having a great year with many fun and exciting activities. Your child will be participating in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities such as soccer, flag football, tennis, presidential physical fitness testing, fitness, volleyball, pickle ball, and more.
The first and fourth marking periods the students can expect to go outside for physical education, if the weather is permitting. It is recommended that the students put on sun block at least thirty minutes before going outside. Students are permitted to bring a water bottle (no flavored water, juice, or soda will be allowed). They may also bring a baseball cap (this must be worn properly and only outside).
· In order to participate in daily Physical Education activities your child must dress in accordance to our Physical Education dress code. Students must change into physical education clothes (they cannot wear the same clothes they wore to school). T-shirt or sweatshirt (all shirts must have sleeves), pull on shorts that are fingertip in length (differs from school dress code), sweatpants or swishies, no jeans non-marking flat soled sneakers (laces must be pulled tight and tied, sneakers must have a backing), and socks. Shirts must be tucked in. No Tank-Tops!
· Students will be given the opportunity to borrow clean clothes if they forget to bring their own. Borrowing clothes will result in a loss of 2-3 points. It is highly recommended that your child keep an additional set of physical education clothes in their school locker just in case they forget their physical education clothes at any time.
· First time: A students is unprepared and chooses not to borrow clothes they will lose 10 points and be given a take home make-up physical activity to be signed (five points may be earned back).
· Additional unprepareds for Physical Education class will result in:
· Second time & third time: Phone call home, make-up physical activity after school with a PE teacher.
· Fourth time: A student/parent/teacher conference will be required.
· Students are required to bring their own lock to secure their personal belongings. No Sharing! (Students can not use a school assigned lock.) Not having a lock will result in a loss of 2 points.
· You may use your locker only during your class period.
· You will be permitted to bring a stick or roll-on deodorant to class. No spray deodorants are permitted.
· No backpacks, pocketbooks, cell phones or electronic devices should be brought to the gymnasium.
· No jewelry. All earrings need to be removed, if a student can not remove the earring because it is a new piercing, you must have a note stating when it was pierced and when it will be removed (six weeks from the piercing date). If a student cannot remove the earrings after six weeks, they must provide a Doctors note explaining why. If student has a Doctors note the earring must be a smooth stud & taped. No eyebrow rings even with a note.
· If you are unable to take physical education due to an illness or minor injury, students must have a note from a parent /guardian which will excuse them for up to two classes. A doctor’s note will be required for any ailment that will necessitate a restriction from physical education class for more than two class periods. An alternative assignment will be assigned.
· Injuries that occur in class must be reported to the teacher.
· No one may leave his/her area without permission.
· You may be in the locker room and gymnasium only when a staff member is present.
