Course of Study

We start our year with acquiring an understanding of how Physical Geography influences Cultural Geography

First Unit:  Physical geography: Earth's rotation, time zones, climate, map skills, directions, and develop a connection between Physical and Cultural Geography

Second Unit:  The Middle East - we will study the physical and cultural geography, history, OPEC, and the origins of the three major religions of the Middle East (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) 

Third Unit:  Latin America - areas of study will be: physical and cultural geography (including the effects of deforestation of the rainforest), history, and Communism in Cuba.  We will watch the film, "A Man, A Plan, A Canal, Panama" We will also be taking an actual immigration test.

Fourth Unit:  Africa

Fifth Unit:  Asia - China, Japan
