                                                                                                                         2008 - 2009

Dear Parents, Guardians and Teachers:

Woodcrest PTA welcomes you and your family to the 2008-2009 school year.  PTA is an advocacy group made up of parents and educators working together for our children.  We enhance our children’s education by providing supplemental educational materials and stimulating cultural events through various fundraising activities.  We are a volunteer organization that depends upon you to help our children.

Some of our planned activities for the coming year will include Author's Day, Book Fairs, Bowling Night, Sports Night, Family Night, Field Day, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, Plant Sale, Teacher Appreciation, Character Education and School Store.

Past projects include new playground equipment, enhancing and updating the library and the new outdoor message board.

Why should you join the PTA?

  • PTA offers parents the opportunity to make positive changes in the school.

  • PTA represents parents in schools and before lawmakers as it works to make a difference in events, policies and laws that affect children.

  • PTA distributes information on a regular basis via newsletters, e-mails and a website so that members can be informed of and respond to school issues and activities in a timely manner.

Joining the PTA shows an interest in your child's education and school activities, shows greater support for his/her teachers and school and improves the relationship between parents and school personnel.

If you have any questions regarding PTA membership, please contact John Happ, Membership Chair, at woodcrestpta@verizon.net.  For questions regarding possible participation in a PTA-sponsored event, please contact Lisa Jacobs, PTA President, ljacobs66@comcast.net or any other PTA Board member.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

                                                            Very truly yours,
